Relate Leeds is a registered charity and “not for profit” organisation with over 60 years experience of helping people with their relationships.  We are part of a national network of Relate centres; our Counsellor training is of a professional standard and is well known for its specific “couple focus”.  Our practice conforms to the ethical framework of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy and our Counsellors have regular supervision as part of their contract.

 Who can we help?

Relate Leeds provides counselling for people who are worried about their personal, couple, sexual or family relationships and want to do something about it.  We do not just provide counselling for married couples, we will help whether or not you are married, in a same sex relationship, wanting to attend on your own, or as a family group. We also have counsellors who are specifically trained to work with young people who want to improve their relationships with others.

 How does it work?

The first step is to get in touch and we will send you a registration form. Once we receive this completed form we will contact you to arrange an initial appointment.  We aim for this to be within two weeks, but this will depend on your availability.  The purpose of this meeting is two fold – it allows you to learn more about Relate Leeds, and enables the Counsellor to hear the difficulties you are experiencing.  After the Counsellor has helped you talk through the issues, you can decide what you would like to do next.  If you decide that on going counselling would be useful you will be placed on a waiting list.  How long you will have to wait will depend on which times you are available to attend. 

What will it cost?

Maintaining a professional counselling service is costly.  It currently costs us £50 to provide one session of face to face counselling.  We ask that you pay at least this hourly cost.  We have a very small bursary scheme for anyone who finds it difficult to make the payments, please speak in confidence to our reception staff for more information.  We operate a prepayment system and all appointments must be paid for before attending.
