Relate Leeds is one of four Relate Centres taking part in a pilot scheme to research the most effective way of working with people affected by domestic violence or abuse.
Domestic violence and abuse occurs across society, regardless of age, race, sexuality, wealth and geography. Nationally Relate estimates that 30% of people who contact us experience violence or abuse. Our priorities for these people are:
To increase the safety of victims / survivors and their children.
Prevent violence occurring / re occurring
Help abusers to be accountable for their abusive behaviour
Our primary concern is the safety of the victim / survivor and their children.
Many people suffering abuse do not know if what is happening to them is normal, they think it is something that just happens in relationships. Their Relate Counsellor will help them see that what is happening is not normal or acceptable and help them to take action to increase their safety. |
