Relationship Counselling is for individuals as well as couples. It is for people who are in a relationship, have separated, or have never had a long term relationship.
Relate counselling is a process during which you and your Counsellor work together to explore and gain an understanding of how difficulties in your relationships have arisen. Couples can work together to gain insight and understanding on how to improve their relationships, or if things have completely broken down, your counsellor can help you come to terms with what has happened, and work through the painful process of separation. With greater understanding, it is possible for you to decide if you want to make any changes in your relationships and how you will achieve them.
The service has been designed for couples and individuals, aged 16 or over.
You will meet your counsellor at the same time each week. Your counsellor will not take sides, or judge you. If you attend as a couple or family, your counsellor will ensure that everyone is heard. They will listen carefully to everything that is said and help you to find ways forward. Often counsellors may help you to look at how things in your past have shaped the present situation, and how you would like your relationships to be in the future.
This varies but most people attend for around 6 sessions
